Dogs & BDSM Traits

Okay, this is totally off writing, but I think it does qualify under reading, as I read the following question on Quora. The question was—how would a dog react if a person licked its face (muzzle). First thought, umm, no. Just no. I’m not licking my dog’s muzzle. I know where it’s been. I also don’t like the dog licking my hand either.

Interestingly enough, the licking of the hand has to do with submissive and dominant behavior. Ok, maybe this just went from a dog post to a BDSM post. I don’t know, I’m just thinking out loud here! *grin* When a dog licks your hand it is (allegedly) showing a bond and submission as a member of the pack. Since most dog owners are the alpha leader, the dog is pretty much saying, I get it. You’re the master, you feed me, you care for me, I love you, and I expect you to take care of me.

In a way it’s a plausible analogy of BDSM relationships when it comes to the Dom/Domme caring for, and tending to the needs of a the sub. I’m in no way, whatsoever suggesting that a Dom/Domme would treat their sub badly as the general societal phrase, “treated him like a dog” often suggests in ordinary conversation. I’m simply saying, that in a dominant/submissive pattern of behavior it seems reasonable that there’s a correlation in the base structure of a BDSM relationship. At least that’s the case with my book HIS MISTRESS. Actually, this could even be applied to an alpha hero and his feisty, yet yielding, heroine.

Agree or disagree? Thoughts?
